Mystery Reader-

Jack’s dad, Mr. Hoekstra was our last Mystery Reader. He read to us about Thidwick the Moose.
Thanks for all who “came in” this year!

Celebrations-

Star of the Day – We finished up heart notes for everyone and got to do one last time of show and tell.

Quote of the Week –  This week’s quote went to  Mr. K.  He is a funny and loving fourth-grade teacher at our school.

First Grade Family Time –  At the assembly, we celebrated our learning, gave awards for the quote of the week, along with awards for lost teeth, shoe-tying, & birthdays from the week. Here are our “award-winning” first-graders from today’s family time.

We’ll celebrate Ella’s birthday next week!

OUR LEARNING:

Writing We spent this week working on a special first-grade memory book! I hope that this special keepsake will help your child remember all of the special memories from first grade.

Word Study – We wrapped up our first-grade word study review by studying digraphs this week (sh, ch, ph, th, wh).

Reading–  We are ending the year with a review of non-fiction books. We are looking at non-fiction text features such as- Table of Contents, Diagrams, Labels, Headings, Titles, Glossary, Index, and Bold Words.

Math- We took our final math test which covered double digit addition with regrouping. This unit was short but important. Please continue to practice with your child at home throughout the summer!

Sadly, the weather didn’t hold out for us to have our First-Grade Olympics but we enjoyed teacher rotations inside and had a lot of fun.

Mrs. Cooley taught us about Memorial Day and we made a lantern.
Mrs. Kuiper helped us work on our tech skills through a Kahoot.
Mrs. Hutchison led us in some fun games of 4 corners and seatball.
Mrs. Blauwkamp led us in a directed drawing.
